JEFF SMITH

Bone is an American Published comic book that started in 1991 and ended in 2004. The whole series included 55 issues. These comic book  genres were centered more around light hearted comedy and dark fantasy thriller. His earlier attempt of drawing the future bone cousins was when he was 5 years old drawing in his living room. He began to write comics based on these characters during the 1970's. His comics were inspired by stories such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

After college Jeff and his friends produced animation work in their studio for commission. He didn't like the style of cartooning they were working on and ultimately he decided to branch off and work on his own comic book, BoneThis is when Smith launched his own company called, "Cartoon Books" to publish his bone series. He self published his comic books which meant he did everything by himself including answering letters and producing all the titles and drawings by hand. He also sent the artwork to the printer, and handled all the orders and book keeping which in result made him fall back in production.

. He asked his wife to quit her job in silicon valley and his sales improved thanks to him being able focus on drawing more which ultimately increased his overall sales. He published the comics temporarily through Image comics which was only temporary. He also originally  released his comics in black and white and then later recreated with different front covers and added color to them. He also corrected some spelling errors with names of certain characters that weren't spelled consistently. Replaced some dialogue and quotes with  shorter sentences and phrases.

When he completed finishing the series and reprinting and editing all the editions of the bones comic he did something incredible. He put all of his 55 editions of his comics into one single fully colored comic book. The one single book has 1,332 pages! This is for that reader who gets hooked by his comedy and artistic designs and desires to read all his comics without having to collect all 55 separately.55 issues later Jeff has left his mark on peoples childhoods with the creation of his art and comedy into comic book form.
